Cordoba House Manager Position

Responsibilities

Event Planning

* Locate possible venues and local hosts for community dialogues, fundraisers, workshops, etc.

* Handle all logistics related to selecting dates, liaising with local hosts, confirming locations, all necessary equipment, event publicity and travel arrangements for speakers and guests

* Coordinate outreach activities for events and projects

* Utilize the energy and expertise of volunteers to ensure objectives are met

Bookkeeping

* Responsible for local chapter finances

* Liaise with head office in Ottawa to ensure all accounts are in order

* Conduct monthly financial reports

* Conduct yearly budgets for the local chapter

* Handle all bills and invoices for the local chapter and distribute cheques accordingly

Other duties

* Responsible for opening and locking up the house on a daily basis

* Recruiting and training volunteers for the community library

* Continuously involved in promoting Cordoba House within the Hamilton community

* Other administrative duties as assigned

* Maintain all social networks associated with Cordoba House and update website regularly

* Research and apply for project grants

Qualifications

* Degree in social sciences, humanities, public relations or event planning

* Minimum one year experience in a leadership role

* Proven experience in planning and implementing events

* Experience working through an anti-oppressive and anti-racist lens

* Excellent event planning skills and ability to anticipate logistical requirements for multi-faceted events including assessing the accessibility and appropriateness of a venue

* Exceptional writing skills and oral communication skills, including over the phone and email

* Excellent outreach skills; skilled at relationship building and liaising with community members

* Adept at Microsoft Word, Office and Powerpoint

* Familiar with social networks such as Facebook and Twitter and WordPress operating systems

* Experience in grant writing would be an asset

* Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and organize time and workload

* Excellent interpersonal, administrative and problem-solving skills

* Demonstrated ability to work well with individuals from diverse backgrounds
