Job Description:
Representing an off-shore Mobile Value Added Services company, the candidate will be based in Toronto Canada and will be responsible for the technical support activities of the company’s products installed at the customer’s premises.

JOB SUMMARY:
Urdu/Punjabi Speaking Settlement Worker will provide assistance and support to ISAP clients. S/he will be responsible for effective practices, ensuring the program adheres to the agency policies and provides quality assistance and support to clients.
- Provide assessment, information and orientation services to newcomer families to facilitate adjustment to life in Canada.
- Provide information to newcomer families about resources and services in the school and the community.
- Facilitate referrals and access to appropriate services both in the school and the community.
- Establish and maintain contact with newcomer families to determine their needs and issues.
- Promote culturally sensitive links between school staff and newcomer families.
- Organize, plan and implement group sessions on topics related to settlement.

Qualifications:

WHERE & WHAT:
Based at our Ottawa headquarters, this position will require 20-25 hours per week at a pay rate of $10-12 per hour (less withholdings). For the right person there is potential for this role to grow with the organization and for further lateral and vertical advancement.
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Office Administrator will perform administrative duties requiring initiative, independence, and confidentiality in the areas of office management, donor relations, phone system management, project administration, meetings facilitation and other areas as required for support of CAIR-CAN staff, Board, and volunteer teams. Additional tasks may be assigned on an ongoing and as-needed basis.
In the services area of CAIR-CAN, the Office Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day Administrative running of the office. Some of the duties of include (but are not limited to):
- Donor relations – correspondence both over the phone, email, and by snail-mail
- Database management – updating CAIR-CAN’s various databases to ensure that information is up-to-date and correct
- Banking – depositing donations and ensuring proper documentation and tracking procedures are followed
- Recruiting, training and managing teams of volunteers to fulfill the needs of the organization including data entry work, direct mail campaign letter stuffing, different campaigns/initiatives, events
- Screening and answering inbound phone calls
- Prepare travel arrangements
- Coordinating and scheduling conference calls, meetings, etc.
- Assisting in the preparation of organizational marketing collateral and events including publications, flyers, posters, seminars and corporate events
- Maintaining office supply inventories, ensure office appearance is maintained
Desired qualifications for the successful candidate include:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English required. French language skills will be considered an asset
- 2 years of working experience in an Administrative/Operations capacity (experience in the non-profit or human rights field is a bonus)
- Knowledge of conventional research skills (internet, library, 411.ca, etc)
- Basic accounting functions (process and pay invoices and track receivables)
- HIGHLY knowledgeable in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure
- Ability to identify process inefficiencies and make suggestions
- Willingness and ability to work overtime as required and to engage in travel as needed to assist with events

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Manager of Community Engagement, the Community Recreation Project Staff will work with the “Be Wise and Exercise” Project Steering Committee to develop an inventory of free of charge or low cost recreational activities in the identified Hamilton neighbourhoods. The Community Recreation Analyst will compile and analyze the data and produce a report that summarizes the findings of this research.
