Habitat For Humanity Info Meeting This Saturday (interest free homes) July 10, 2010

The Habitat for Humanity Family Selection Committee would like to offer this reminder that we are holding an information session this Saturday, July 10/2010 at 2:00PM at Emmanuel United Church, 871 Upper Ottawa.  As a valuable community partner, it is our hope that your organization may assist us in connecting with families in need who may qualify for our home building project.

Currently Habitat for Humanity is building 8 homes (2 townhouse units with 4 homes each) located behind the Eva Rothwell Center off Wentworth St in Hamilton.  Habitat is an international faith based not for profit organization, with a mandate to offer families with children a hand up in order to break the cycle of poverty.  We offer qualified families a interest free / down payment free mortgage, then work together with them and our community partners and volunteers (i.e Home Depot, local trade unions) to build their home.  Qualified families and their friends get the chance to help build the home they will eventually live in.  We also follow each family for at least one year in order to assist them through the financial and maintenance learning curve of new home ownership.

By the Grace of Allah, IICUW is setting a Community Information Booth at 6th Annual Non-Violence Festival in Kitchener.

This is the Only Islamic Information Booth at the Festival for which we are thankful to Allah, who has given us this opportunity and responsibility to represent Islam on the behalf of all our community.

Muslim Day at Wonderland July 10, 2010

The Muslim community in Ontario is organizing trips to Canada’s Wonderland on Sunday July 18 (Muslim Day at Wonderland).  The Summer Adventures program has tickets available. The ticket is $32.50 (Regular ticket is $58).  Transportation will be available on Sunday with a Fee of $10 round trip.  Interested, please contact at 905-512-8846.

AlNoor Arabic School Summer Adventures June 14, 2010

Salamu Alaikum my dear respected brothers and sisters

Alnoor Arabic School is organizing its Summer Adventures program for its 7th year for JK to grade 8.  The program will start on July 5 and ends on July 30 (daily from 1:00pm to 5:30pm).  Program includes intensive Arabic and Tarbiah programs, swimmining, bowling, sports (soccer/volleyball/basketball), jumping bounce, water guns, competitions, movies, arts and crafts, skill developments, tallent shows, free pizza, jumaa prayer, and three trips to marineland, wonderland, and Centrville Toronto Island.  Reserve a seat for your son/daughter/brother/sister.  Registration is on Saturday June 12 and June 19 at G.L. Armstrong school at 462 Concession St with East 19th St from 10:00 to 12:00pm (entrance from the back).  First student is $150, second $125, third $100, fourth $75 etc (trips are extra).

The trips are open to all Muslim Community (please note that parents and friends can join their children in the school buses) :

Saturday July 10 – Marineland (at discounted rate – to be announced later)

Second trip

Sunday July 18 - Wonderland (It is Muslim day at Wonderland where they have Special events at Kings theatre with Nasheed program, Halal food can be purchased etc.  Tickets can be purchased for $32) instead of $58.  The transportation can be provided for a fee of $10 (optional). Tickets are available NOW.

Third trip

Saturday July 24 – Centrville Toronto Island (at discounted rates – to be announced)
