Did you know that the first piloted flying device soared well before Leonardo da Vinci took flight in the 15th century? In the ninth century on a hill near Cordoba, Spain, a scholar and inventor named Abbas Bin Firnas harnessed himself to a feathered glider and briefly took flight, amazing his spectators.
The glider is just one of the inventions recreated for Sultans of Science: 1000 Years of Knowledge Rediscovered, an international touring exhibition making its Canadian premiere at the Ontario Science Centre.

HAMILTON, JANUARY 2, 2009.
The Palestinian Association of Hamilton today announces that two buses have been hired and car pools are being organized to take Hamiltonians to the big demonstration in Toronto on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 2 pm at Dundas Square to protest Israeli war crimes in Gaza.
One bus will leave from the Hamilton Mosque, 1545 Stonechurch Road East, at about noon on Saturday and the other from the Downtown Mosque, 96 Wilson Street at about 12:15 pm.

You are cordially invited and urgently requested to attend the upcoming MAH General Body Meeting, which will be held Insha’Allah in the Hamilton Mountain Masjid at 1545 Stone Church Road East on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 2:00PM (right after Dhuhr Prayer). The meeting will be entirely dedicated to the discussion of and the deciding on a number of options regarding the MAH New Masjid Project. The agenda of the meeting will be as follows:

3. Presentation of Available Options By Brother Ali Taher Ghouse.
4. Questions by Community Members And Answers by MAH Board members and members of the New-Masjid Committee.

So what exactly is MAC Youth Quest? Well, it’s competition like you’ve never seen before! In an exciting, jam-packed, all-day event, this competition will give high school-aged youth an opportunity to showcase their talent, skills, and test and increase their knowledge through various components of the competition. The individuals and teams will have an opportunity to take part in a war of words in the “Poetry/Rap Slam“, test their knowledge in “Trivia Face-Off“, display their artistic and creative sides in “Clash of the Banners“, or showcase their movie-making talent in the “Short-Film Showdown“.
